a few old poems

This blog used to be full of my poetry, and then I took it all down. Now is as good a time as any to start putting it up again.

weather system
We watched as the sky turned
light grey to deep, menacing blue
that took over in stages, jaggedly
breaking the peace above the lone mountain
we could see from the balcony.

the rolling thunder sent shivers
to raise the hair along my arms
as the lightning cracked the solid sky
into pieces, a puzzle already solved,
but the parts still visible within the whole.

all had passed upon waking, leaving
every tiny bud intact on the
blooming trees covering the landscape.

Caught: a live one
Light and easily thrown,
no hint of strain - like
I am just a feather,
that seems to make your
blood move quicker.

The sweetness is
something you put on,
a thin layer of thoughtfulness that
melts when it touches my mouth.
I ask you to paint it thicker,

and whether this is an affect,
how you handle me like
a doll, not a full-grown woman?
